General Summary Position performs work in the maintenance and service of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems at the assigned facility. Installs, repairs, maintains, and services applicable systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Performs general maintenance and repairs of installed equipment and systems to ensure the successful operation of boilers, compressors, refrigeration equipment, generators, air-conditioning facilities and all appurtenant equipment that is driven by steam, electricity, gas, air, diesel, water or any other power developing energy. * Patrols, inspects, and maintains all mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping and plumbing systems and equipment. * Performs preventative maintenance as appropriate. * May effect repairs on toilet facilities, registers, radiators, lights, fixtures, minor repairs on furniture and floors. * Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces, assists others as part of the maintenance team as required. * May direct work of engineer apprentices. * Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements * High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certificate in related field preferred * Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. * Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software highly desired. * General knowledge of hand and power tools * Strong written and oral communication skills * Must be able to successfully pass a government background screen for admittance to jobsite Physical, Environmental and Sensory Requirements * Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions. * Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable.
