We are looking for a self-motivated GI Tech who will be responsible for the technical functions related to assisting with GI procedures. The functions of this role include preparing the procedure room; assisting with the procedure; management, troubleshooting, and cleaning of equipment and instrumentation; and stocking, ordering, and tracking supplies. Qualifications * High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. * Completion of GI or OR Technician courses are preferred. * One year of GI Tech experience is preferred. Responsibilities * Is able to assist with all GI procedures, using all GI equipment safely and skillfully. * Assist with positioning of patient and application of monitoring equipment (eg EKG monitor, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter) and oxygen delivery devices (eg nasal prongs, O2 mask). * Cleans scopes and prepares them for disinfection, according to Unit policy/procedure and manufacturer's guildelines. * Identifies dangerous complications in the GI patient, ie obstructed airway, lowered oxygen saturation or blood pressure. * Responds to monitor alarms immediately, obtaining assistance without delay for any problem that is not rapidly resolved (eg replacing pulse oximeter sensor on digit). * Works with the RN to ensure accurate labeling of specimens, transporting to the appropriate pick-up box, and proper recording in specimen log book.
