Overview General Accountant Corporate Position may be filled in either Huntsville, AL or Arlington, VA. Responsibilities Will oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. Duties will include, but are not limited to: * Reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. Ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks. * Assist with the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation * Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes. * Performs corporate accounting functions including: general ledger, billing, accounts receivables, accounts payable, payroll, and other analyses. * Supports internal and external audit activities. * Works to implement practices, procedures, and initiatives that ensure accurate cost accounting. * Verify, allocate, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable * Reconcile bank statements on monthly basis. * Maintaining and reconciling depreciation and fixed assets schedules * Review staff's work for efficiency * Ensure compliance with GAAP principles * Additional duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum Requirements * Minimum of 5 years accounting experience working in the government contracting industry. * Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline preferred. * Demonstrated experience with Deltek CostPoint. * Demonstrated experience in governmental contracting, DCAA auditing compliance, and financial reporting. * Must be proficient with Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. * Applicant must have good organizational skills and be an analytical problem solver with attention to detail. * Individual must be a self-starter who can demonstrate initiative and work independently with limited supervision. * Must be a team player and display professionalism at all times.
