Senior Risk Associate - Credit Solutions, Risk & Regulations

The Credit Solutions team is a horizontally functioning group intertwined with the Commercial Bank to help lead and deliver an automated and integrated platform for smart, scalable and consistent underwriting analysis, while also creating a complete and seamless credit monitoring experience as part of an integrated credit ecosystem. Diving deeper, the Credit Solutions team is striving to create a simple and easy to use online experience for our commercial clients to engage with Capital One for all their needs. By providing a high value experience that enables portfolio management for the business and driving adoption of the platform across all lines of business, holistic and aggregated reporting through sustainable data rigor and governance will be enabled.

As a Senior Associate within our Risk & Regulation team, you will be part of a team focused on internal risk and regulatory remediation and governance within the Underwriting & Portfolio Management organization of the Commercial Bank. As a problem solver, you will assist in the governance of templates and credit approval documentation processes while collaborating with intelligent and passionate leaders to influence results that have an impact on risk management within the Commercial Bank. You will assist in ensuring that a number of processes and requirements related to credit approval documentation are appropriately executed and adhered to. Additionally, the role will leverage optical character recognition technology to automate quality control routines regarding critical credit approval metrics.

General Responsibilities May Include:
  • Assessing adequacy of the existing governance environment for credit approval documentation and requirements.
  • Performing data analytics on compliance and proper usage of templates as needed.
  • Managing template repositories and ad hoc change requests on a regular basis.
  • Drafting, publishing and distributing change management communications.
  • Management of the team's Pulse Page content and publications.
  • Assisting with the design of presentations to drive recommendations and solicit input.
  • Engaging, collaborating and working cohesively with key stakeholders across the Commercial Bank, including Credit, Product, Technology, Program Management, Sales, Operations, Finance and other internal groups to drive improvements in risk management processes.
  • Communicating status of horizontal project and risk remediation needs to key stakeholders across all levels.
  • Partnering on risk management process improvement work and remediation initiatives.
  • Coding functionality for optical character recognition software for automated data extraction from credit approval documentation.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in Commercial Underwriting or Portfolio Management or at least 1 year of working in a project management, process management or risk management environment


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Management of business consulting experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in commercial underwriting or portfolio management or at least 3 years of working in a project management, process management or risk management environment
  • At least 1 year change management experience
  • At least 1 year stakeholder engagement experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience in strategic and senior-level presentation
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrated the ability to work in a continually evolving and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated track record of engaging key stakeholders from varied perspectives and leading diverse teams to consensus around the best end result
