Overview: REI Systems is looking for a Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will support the production and enhancement of a modern data analytics platform. Your responsibility will be to provide technical solutions to the ever-growing needs of the customers in data management, warehousing, analytics, installation, configuration, and upgrade/patch areas.In this position the candidate can join our team immediately and begin work on the project while we process a Secret DOD Clearance for the individual. Responsibilities: Database installation, configuration, upgrade, patch management on AWS cloud and on-prem.Deliver projects that focus on data warehousing, reporting, and data management.Work with and through both functional and technical project team members to deliver products in an agile manner.Work with team leaders and data analysts in resolving complex technical and operational issues.Conduct daily monitoring of all database environments, collect, and analyze logs, metrics, and events from the database services to ensure secure, reliable, and optimal performance, and configure alarms/events for proactive monitoring.Track the execution of daily automated jobs and troubleshoot any failures or out of normal behaviors.Work closely with development teams for the operational support, performance troubleshooting, and provide management with the adhoc reports based on the needs.Review, recommend, and apply security access policies on database environments and/or services to satisfy the application and team needs.Develop automated processes to maintain database consistency and synchronize schema or data between production and lower environments.Other similar professional duties maybe assigned as needed. Qualifications: Required SkillsUS citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance5-7 years of experience designing, developing and managing enterprise-level databases using relational databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL on cloud and on-prem.3+ years of experience with Data Warehouse, Data Management, Reporting, Governance and Dashboard development.2+ years of experience with AWS RDS databasesReview code, write documentation and follow test proceduresEnsure that database servers backup is as per the businesss Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)Conduct test backups to verify that business Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) are metBe available to troubleshoot database outages after- hours and weekends as neededSetup monitoring utilities on AWS RDS/EC2 databases and set up alerts and notificationsSignificant experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization of database environmentsAnalyze performance issues to determine best solutions to increase performance, server configuration changes or index/query changes, etc.Must have experience writing and optimizing SQL queriesMust have experience writing scripts using Shell and/or PythonReady to embrace a fast-paced work environment with deadlines and new challenges.Experience delivering solutions using Agile delivery practices.Understanding of CI/CD pipeline.Bachelors degree in computer science, data analytics, business intelligence, economics, statistics, or mathematics.Employer will accept a suitable combination of education, training, or experience.Strong communication and teamwork abilities.Desired SkillsExperience with ETL tools like Informatica and Pentaho Kettle.Experience with improving performance on enterprise applications with large dataExperience in Test Driven and Behavior Driven Development frameworksFamiliarity with revision control systems such as Git/GitHub/GitLabExperience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
