Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) sector's Business Management organization is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our growing team of qualified, diverse professionals based in McLean, Virginia. This position will report directly to the Sector Rates and Budgets Manager. We are seeking a highly qualified individual for the Sector Rates and Budgets team who is excited to bring today's technology, platforms, and applications to create data analytics capabilities for our financial and executive teams. Responsibilities: Translates end-user concept of operations into workflows & backlog Understands the concept of operations to derive business requirements and define steps that need to be taken to achieve those requirements Builds the framework defining an environment for development Monitors and contributes to the completion of tasks and awareness of task workflow Works with end users and stakeholders to understand current concept of operations, business processes, and challenges Becomes fluent in end-user vernacular and domain Documents workflows and computations Translates concept of operations and processes into requirements for software engineers and data scientists Creates test procedures verifying and validating system Executes tests and helps facilitate the information security policy and other policies to ensure data can be obtained and properly secured/stored This position may be filled as either a Principal Systems Engineer or a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer per the requirements below:Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer: Must have one of the following: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years of systems engineering experience Master's degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 3 years of systems engineering experience PhD in an engineering discipline Experience translating end-user concept of operations into requirements and workflows Familiar with enterprise software systems architecture Experience with SQL and relational databases Defining acceptance criteria for task completion Experience with performing system and end-user tests (writing procedures and executing them) Must have or be able to obtain a US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time) Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: Must have one of the following: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 9 years of systems engineering experience Master's degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 7 years of systems engineering experience PhD in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 4 years of systems engineering experience Experience translating end-user concept of operations into requirements and workflows Familiar with enterprise software systems architecture Experience with SQL and relational databases Defining acceptance criteria for task completion Experience with performing system and end-user tests (writing procedures and executing them) Must have or be able to obtain a US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time) Preferred Qualifications: Experience with creating derived requirements Experience with using JIRA Background/experience in financial industry Experience with complex system modelling Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and customers up to the executive level Salary Range: 101200 - 151800 Salary Range 2: 125488 - 188232 Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
