Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems is seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer to join a motivated, engaged, and technically talented group of individuals on our Rushmore Program located in Harrogate, UK.The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently to maintain an innovative and complex communication system. Principal duties for this position include maximizing system availability by performing preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide variety of satcom equipment. This position has high visibility with customers and government stakeholders. Multi-disciplinary technical skills along with soft skills to interact with customers, subcontractors and third parties are also hallmarks of this position. In this role your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide 24/7 anomaly response to support restoration and repair efforts Perform system, sub-system, Line Replaceable Unit, and board-level troubleshooting and repair Document equipment failures, prepare status reports, and identify maintenance improvements Provide recommendations for future enhancements and system upgrades Support the integration, installation, test, and documentation of new and/or modified capabilities into the system Provide mentoring and daily tasking to small group of subcontractors supporting O&M activities. Up to 10% travel to international and US sites is expected during the tour. A comprehensive overseas compensation package is offered with this position, including relocation.A two year overseas tour commitment is required. Basic Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with five (5) years of related experience, OR Master of Science in a STEM discipline with three (3) years of related experience Familiarity with basic concepts of Digital Electronics and/or RF Communications systems Familiarity with basic concepts of antenna control systems, servos and tracking methods. Familiarity with basic concepts of Fiber Optic communications equipment Understanding of basic RF and Digital modulation/demodulation concepts Familiarity with Digital and RF test equipment (eg oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and BER testers) Proficient in reading, understanding, and communicating technical specs and documentation Ability to satisfy the following physical demands: Ability to work on elevated structures at heights of ~100 feet, Ability to climb stairs (~300 stairs/day), Ability to lift and carry ~45lbs, Ability to work in narrow and confined spaces Active (in-scope) TS/SCI with CI Poly Preferred Qualifications for Principal Hardware Engineer: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with an SSBI and Counter Intelligence polygraph within the last 3 years Salary Range: 92000 - 138000 Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
