We are looking for a capable, proactive, detail-oriented person with a can-do attitude to support the day-to-day operations of our business. Responsibilities Perform monthly accounting/bookkeeping tasks including A/R, A/P, timesheet management, payroll preparation, expense processing, contract financial reporting, and account reconciliation; identify discrepancies and work directly with various parties to resolve issues Improve business operations by revising processes, documenting procedures, and investigating alternative tools Participate in proposal pricing, tax preparation, and other finance activities according to your capabilities Qualifications Required Two-year degree in finance/accounting. Hands-on experience with bookkeeping software (esp., QuickBooks Pro) Strong understanding of MS Excel formulas and pivot tables Ability to learn new systems quickly and resolve issues to complete work Strong verbal and written communication skills Qualifications Highly Desired Four-year degree inclusive of some college-level coursework in information systems 2+ years QuickBooks desktop experience 1+ years of experience performing bookkeeping/accounting for a professional services organization (ideally federal IT consulting) 1+ years of experience in contract financial management 1+ years of experience creating complex financial spreadsheets in MS Excel Compensation $50 -75K/year depending on capability Other Location: Alexandria, MD Telecommuting: 20% Hours: Full time About Business Performance Systems (BPS) Business Performance Systems is a successful, well-established small business composed of dedicated, skilled consultants supporting high-priority government projects.
