Hughes Network Systems, an EchoStar Company has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Counsel to support our North America Division at our Germantown, Maryland office. Responsibilities: Primarily responsible for structuring and drafting complex contracts for large and medium enterprises. (from proposal development through close-out). Drafting and negotiation of agreements with installation and maintenance subcontractors Providing support for the HughesNet consumer business in the areas of advertising claims, third party website use, privacy and PCI rules, as well as providing guidance on the protection of consumer data. Structuring and drafting agreements to support the HughesNet consumer Internet access business. This includes subscriber agreements directly with consumers, as well as agreements with sales agents and dealers and distributors. Advising the business on current privacy laws and assuring company remains in compliance. Advising the business on other applicable laws and regulations affecting the HughesNet consumer service. This includes compliance with TCPA and FCRA requirements. Developing and providing training to marketing and sales on compliance issues affecting the HughesNet consumer business. Advising the business on government contract laws and regulations related to Department of Defense procurements. Maintain working knowledge of Federal Trade Commission (FTC) advertising policies. Working closely with business teams on contract procurements and transactions. Communicating and advising on potential risks and reducing company exposure. Other duties as may arise. Requirements: Must be a licensed attorney with a JD from an accredited law school and an excellent academic record. Must be capable of obtaining and holding a US government security clearance 3-6 years of legal experience with a large national or regional law firm or corporation. Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with representing a sales organization and will have extensive experience structuring, drafting and negotiating complex contracts. Experience advising a large consumer focused organization on laws and regulations relating to privacy, extension of credit, telemarketing, net neutrality, claims substantiation and disclaimers is a plus. Outstanding interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships and interact with individuals at all levels including senior management and applicable government officials. Customer oriented with collaborative communication and problem-solving skills; solid organization skills, detail orientation and a drive to continuously improve. Clear and persuasive communicator, orally and in writing. Eager to learn. Experience with drafting satellite or telecommunications-related contracts a plus Familiarity with technology, especially involving telecommunications and Internet access services Excellent writing, project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Must have a demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced work environment, provide practical legal advice and display a high degree of initiative, discretion, integrity, and judgment.
