ROLE: Big Data Engineer/Developer LOCATION: Remote (onsite in 2022) DURATION: Long term contract OVERVIEW: Apex Systems has an immediate need for Big Data Engineers to join the Analytics team of our large financial client in Rockville, MD. The Big Data Engineer will utilize emerging technology like Knowledge Graph to prep for a Big Data financial project rollout. This position is a long-term contract, with a competitive hourly compensation. Successful candidates have experience with Spark, Big Data, AWS, and Java. REQUIREMENTS: Analyze system requirements and design responsive algorithms & solutions, Use Big Data & Cloud technologies to produce production-quality code, Engage in performance tuning & availability engineering, Work with team, peers & management to identify objectives and set priorities, Perform related SDLC engineering activities like sprint planning & estimation, Work effectively in small agile teams, Provide creative solutions to problems, Identify opportunities for improvement & execute effectively. QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or related field (Master's highly preferred) Strong Big Data & Cloud technologies Strong programming experience - JAVA Experience with Spark/SCALA (preferred) Experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Must have excellent data analysis, design, and development skills Strong SQL and PL/SQL experience Highly preferred: Experience with Knowledge Graph Experience with performance tuning ETL jobs and data models Must have experience in a variety of data delivery methodologies and best practices (ie ingestion of large amounts of data, analyzing and profiling data) Must be willing and able to support application development throughout the software life cycle from requirements analysis and design to implementation and maintenance.
