Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated accountant to join the Controllers Group as an Accounting Manager with a focus on accounting and reporting, as well as analytics and participation in special projects. You will be a self-starter responsible for managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast paced time sensitive environment. The Controllers Group supports the financial implementation of new products and services and system integrations as well as countless opportunities for knowledge growth. This role will have the opportunity to engage with groups across the organization as part of variance analytics, financial statement risk identification, and issue resolution.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of associates to elevate performance, promote development and embrace Capital One values
  • Oversee the execution of month-end close and financial reporting processes in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Participate in the preparation of periodic SEC and Regulatory Reporting as well as other ad hoc reporting requests
  • Oversee preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly and other ad hoc analytics for Accounting and Finance leadership with a focus on accuracy and appropriate presentation of results
  • Partner with Finance and key business partners, associates throughout the Controller's group, tax, and external and internal auditors
  • Drive efficiencies and reduce risk through the identification and implementation of process improvements
  • Leverage new and existing technologies to contribute to the On Demand Finance vision and goals
  • Oversee change initiatives by partnering on business efforts and enterprise wide projects
  • Invest in continuous learning opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in Accounting, or in Audit or in Finance, or a combination


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
  • At least 1 year of experience in Public Accounting or Financial Services experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in supervising a team of individuals
  • At least 7 years of experience in Accounting, or in Audit or in Finance, or a combination
