Principal Communications Associate, Commercial Bank

We're looking for someone who can help Capital One's Commercial organization move into a whole new internal communications realm! The Principal Associate, Communications role is responsible for designing and delivering internal communications strategy that supports the Commercial Bank's goals, individual Line of Business goals, and includes a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging. The Principal Associate works as a key advisor to executive leader(s) to effectively leverage communications to deliver results.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the lead communicators and chiefs of staff to plan and prepare effective and engaging internal communications that educate, inform, connect with and inspire leaders and associates
  • Drive the communications strategy that brings Line of Business and the Commercial Bank's narrative to life through creative storytelling and engaging experiences including executive meetings, all-employee meetings, digital/video storytelling, and special events
  • Execute Line of Business communications in the rollout of business objectives
  • Play an integral role promoting associate engagement to continue to energize the culture empowerment, engagement, and inclusion
  • Evaluate performance for communications, based on metrics and other leading key performance indicators; recommend refinements to communications strategies, messaging and feedback mechanisms, as needed
  • Partner with and influence internal partners


REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong business acumen and executive presence with a history of establishing and growing trusting relationships with executive leaders
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with project management
  • Strong writing and story-telling skills with sound editorial judgment
  • The ability to distill complex content into clear, concise and engaging communications
  • Proficient at creating communication cascades within matrixed organizations
  • Experience managing issues and organizational change communications
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with an ability to consistently execute multiple, and sometimes competing, activities and complex projects to high quality conclusion, on-time, and within budget
  • A track record of consistently acting with urgency as needed
  • Strong customer-orientation and proven track record of collaborative work relationships


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 2 years of experience as a communications specialist


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA in communications, marketing, English or journalism
  • At least 3 years of experience as a communications specialist
  • At least 1 year of experience in financial services, technology or other highly regulated industry
