Senior Director, Product Marketing

Capital One is seeking a Senior Director to lead the credit card product marketing team for the Mainstreet consumer segment. This high-profile leadership role will forge close relationships across Capital One's Credit Card business to develop a shared agenda and drive the full spectrum of marketing activities including brand-building/awareness marketing, acquisition product marketing, creative strategy that targets and engages various subprime audiences, consumer insights that fuel more powerful marketing and value propositions, and marketing that engages existing customers with all that Capital One has to offer. The Mainstreet consumer audience is composed of several audience sub-segments, and this person will lead the marketing strategy for a portfolio of products to each of these sub-audiences. We are looking for an individual with superior leadership skills along with the passion and vision to transform how we go to market to drive growth for Capital One's largest business.

Responsibilities:
  • Deeply understand the marketplace dynamics and determine the strategic, intentional points of difference for Capital One's value proposition to the Mainstreet audience
  • Build marketing plans that integrate upper funnel / lower funnel / customer marketing / loyalty marketing
  • Manage a single view of all marketing and experience touchpoints for the Mainstreet segment
  • Drive optimal brand experience across creative and customer journeys
  • Connect cross-channel strategies, testing / insights, and execution
  • Develop breakout claims & campaigns
  • Orchestrate execution across channels
  • Identify unmet consumer needs and untapped marketplace opportunities
  • Analyze the end-to-end consumer journey to identify new marketing & experience points of leverage
  • Prototype new marketing ideas
  • Set consistent KPIs to enable measurement and comparison across marketing tactics
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high performing marketing team
  • Ensure the team's goals, values, behaviors, and rewards promote a culture of consistent, focused discipline and continuous improvement

To be a successful candidate for this opportunity:
  • You will be able to demonstrate expertise in marketing strategy development, and the ability to develop & deliver insightful and innovative marketing plans.
  • You have the ability to develop, document, and communicate rigorous, highly structured stories grounded in data / insights / analytical rigor
  • You are a fearless leader and highly-disciplined self-starter with a strong POV who can positively, effectively lead themselves and others, with a high level of autonomy.
  • You are a constant source of marketing ideas - the consumer and marketplace are your passion & hobby
  • You have a working knowledge of marketing technology and understand the potential ways it can change how we go to market
  • Finally, you are a confident collaborator and influencer - able to productively partner with a wide variety of teams across a matrixed organization to advance this segment's goals.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 8 years of experience in awareness and direct response consumer marketing
  • At least 4 years experience in digital marketing, including Display, Email, SEM/SEO, Social
  • At least 4 years experience managing teams


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or Business
  • At least 7 years of experience in direct marketing (direct mail, email, website)
  • At least 4 years experience in product development and / or brand management
  • At least 3 years of work experience managing a flagship brand or financial services brand
