Overview: The CNA assists in providing personal care under the direction of nursing, to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential support program, by performing the following duties. Responsibilities: Work in conjunction with Nurse Manager to perform duties essential to the operation of the assigned site. Bathes & dresses & undresses individuals. Turns and repositions individuals, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores. Transports individuals or assists individuals to walk. Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, and answers telephone. Dusts and cleans individuals' room. Performs routine household maintenance/cleaning duties Interacts with individuals to reinforce positive behaviors and to promote social interaction. Provide a positive, safe, & clean homelike living environment designed to meet the specific needs of the individuals residing in the home. Follow, carry out and enforce agency polices and program procedures. Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings. Responsible for completion of all required trainings and certifications within 3 months of hire. Responsible for maintaining required annual training re-certifications. Assists & trains individuals in preparation of nutritious well-balanced meals, or serves nutritious well-balanced meals. Transports individuals by driving an agency vehicle, which may include operation of wheelchair lift and tie downs. Accompanies individuals on shopping trips and instructs and counsels individuals in purchase of personal items, groceries, gifts, etc Observes and documents individual's behaviors, such as speech production, feeding patterns, and toilet training, to facilitate assessment and development of goals. Ensures neat & clean appearance of individuals, train & supervise clean personal hygiene skills, clothing care to include cleanliness, style, & fit. Utilize behavior management techniques as outlined in Individual Plans. Maintain individual's records, files and complete required forms and documentation. Qualifications: MD State CNA Certification from the Board of Nursing Valid Maryland driver's license with no more than 3 points Acceptable Background and Drug Screen High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
