Job Description Full-time Construction Project Manager needed for the Specialty Construction Group branch. Candidate must be dependable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented and able to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment. This position will perform project management duties for successfully converted bids. Project Management duties may include preparation of project submittals, assigning crew members, preparing construction schedule, setting up subcontract or rental agreements, ordering materials and getting purchase orders, attending pre- construction/progress meetings, reviewing daily reports, ensuring conformance with project and HCEA safety requirements, reviewing field data for accuracy (ie drill/grout logs, etc.), performing quality assurance inspections and testing (ie load tests and pull tests), working with foremen and/or engineer-of-record to determine cost effective remedies for various problems/changed field conditions encountered during performance of the work, preparing change order submittals for changes in scope of work, monitoring project budget and controlling costs for project profitability, ensuring completion of work according to all specifications, requirements, and construction schedules, and working with admin staff (AR calls) to ensure timely payment on project invoices. Review trade journals, various General Contractor Bid Boards, Invitations to Bid, and HCEA Bid Board projects to develop prospective leads. Review project drawings (civils/structurals), specifications, geotechnical reports, and other project specific information to determine whether there are any specialty geotechnical construction services to bid on the project. Perform "takeoff" to determine materials, labor, and equipment requirements to perform the specific scopes of work identified for bid. Work with Superintendent, Branch Manager, other Project Managers and Drilling Manager to determine estimated daily productivity, equipment needs, and material quantities for bid preparation. Work with Branch Manager to determine soft costs and profit margin for each bid. Prepare support documentation for bid submittal (ie project experience, professional staff resumes, equipment lists, corporate history, pre-qualification forms, etc.). Attend pre-bid meetings for various projects. Attend networking events. Submit bids to prospective clients (municipalities, general contractors, sub-contractors, etc.). Follow up with low bidders and make efforts to negotiate for the proposed work. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Geology is preferred Preferred 3-5 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering or Construction Project Management (Specialty/General Contractor or Earthwork sub-contractor) Experience managing construction projects of varying size ($50,000 - $1,500,000) Experience estimating, specifically determining materials quantities, labor, and equipment requirements for various types of geotechnical/construction projects Experience with either sheeting/shoring, pressure grouting, or deep foundations is preferred. Experience with all is ideal. Some Business Development experience is a plus and must be able to interact/communicate with clients Experience managing construction projects and crews is a plus Perform other duties as required to assist the Branch Manager in running a successful operation.
