Position Description:The Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) mission is to provide the warfighter with knowledge superiority by developing, delivering, and maintaining effective, capable and integrated command, control, communications, computer, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems. Serco's C4ISR mission support encompasses Enterprise Information Systems (EIS), Information Technology (IT) systems, Electronic Security Systems (ESS), and other electronic systems under NAVWAR cognizance.Serco performs C4ISR installation services at shore facilities, on towers, piers, platforms, mobile systems, and special purpose vehicles. C4ISR installation services includes both decommissioning and modernization of existing facilities as well as installation design and installation of integrated C4ISR systems at new shore facilities.As the Engineering Technician III, you will work on a team performing C4ISR and IT systems modernization at DoD facilities. You will perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed. You will select or adapt standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents. You will receive initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed; perform recurring work independently; review work for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. Work related to this position involves US Navy, Shore C4ISR systems and peripherals, cabling and rack-mounted equipment installation and testing. This position will be based and perform work primarily in the Norfolk, VA area.You will perform at this this level or a combination of such typical duties as:Follow specific instructions, assemble or construct/install complex or standard equipment or materials, service or repair simple instruments or equipment.Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, performing computations, plotting data, and verifying that installed equipment and test data meets acceptance criteria.Perform complex tasks requiring the consideration of multiple variables to determine proper course of actionReceive general guidance/supervision but normally works independently on mastered tasks.Will be required to lead small teams in performance of tasks.Qualifications:To be successful in this role, you must have the following:High School diploma and 5-7 years of experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) C4ISR related field performing engineering design, integration and installation.At least 3 years of experience with installing Shore DoD C4ISR systems.At least 2 years of experience with installing US Navy, Shore C4ISR systems.Must have ability to read and understand blueprints for C4ISR or Cable Plant Systems.Applicants must have an active DoD Secret Clearance and ability to maintain.Experience attaching fiber optic, RJ-45 and DB type connectors.Operate commonly used hand tools and installation test equipment.Possess manual dexterity to complete fine motor tasks.Have the ability to climb ladders and lift and carry items weighing 22.7 kg (50 lb.).Must be able to successfully undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug screening.Ability to travel up to 25%.Preferred qualifications:BICSI Installer or Technician certification.Valid Driver's LicensePossess one of the following:Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or Information Technology.Completion of four (4) years of US military service with one of the following technical ratings. Electronics Technician with Advanced Training, Interior Communication (IC) with Advanced Training, Information System Technician (IT), Radioman (RM) (legacy rating), or Data System Technician (DS) (legacy rating).Completion of a formal two year or more contractor apprenticeship in a related field that included at least six months of formal classroom training that addressed electrical circuit theory, electromagnetic radiation, and other disciplines related to C4ISR installations.Military Veterans and Spouses encouraged to apply!Company Overview:Serco Inc.
