This position serves as an Engineering Technician VI within the Range Operations Branch's Test Communication team at the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, MD. As part of Range Operations Test Communication team, the Engineering Technician will work in a rewarding technical environment supporting flight test operations.Duties, Experience, Skills, and Requirements:Provides technical oversight at deckplate level of contractor (CSS) tasking and work to ensure quality, completeness, timeliness, compliance with requirements/regulations, and configuration/documentation of all work products/deliverablesMaintains and operates communication systems (voice and data that includes remote infrastructure)Maintains and operates Flight Termination Transmitter equipmentInstalls and maintains Fiber infrastructureInstalls and maintains CAT 5/6 infrastructureInforms Government Team Lead of all technical issues and provides possible solutions to address themMust have a broad knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) communication equipment, fiber, and copper infrastructuresMust have experience installing, terminating, testing, and repairing fiberMust have experience installing, testing, and repairing copper infrastructureMust have experience operating and maintaining satellite/UHF/VHF/HF radios, as well as associated equipment and infrastructureMust have a minimum of 12 years' experience in performing the stated or similar job functionsMust be computer literate and demonstrate strong hands-on technical skills,Must demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and writtenMust be able to read, understand, and update schematic drawingsShould be able to support a dynamic work schedule, including some overtime and travelLicenses, Certifications, and Educational Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent is requiredEngineering/Electronics Technician AA/AS degree or related curriculum from an accredited college or university or successful completion of technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school or successful completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of courses from an accredited college is strongly desired, but not requiredMust possess a valid driver's licenseSecurity Clearance:Must have a United States Department of Defense (DoD) issued Top Secret Clearance or higherWork Conditions:Conditions will vary. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Applicant should be capable of lifting 50-100 lbs. assisted by other employees.
