This position offers the opportunity to interact directly with government leaders in a fast-paced and dynamic atmosphere with the ability to make a difference and impact outcomes with solid analysis.As one of four departments in MITRE's Modeling, Simulation, Experimentation & Analytics Innovation Center, the Model-Based Analytics Department provides expertise in Complex Systems Modeling and Analysis, Computational Social Science, Data Analytics, and Rapid Prototyping to various MITRE programs supporting government customers. To be successful you will: + Be passionate about applying data analytics to real world problems, with a willingness to adapt and learn.+ Initiate and lead projects and tasks throughout their life cycle, including conceptualization, requirements definition, data procurement, development, integration, and socialization.+ Proactively architect analytic solutions and recommendations to meet sponsor objectives as a strategic data science thought- and action- partner - for example, identifying new/novel uses of large data holdings using data science methods to close mission gaps.+ Provide relevant day-to-day tasking for one or more junior staff and ensure staff members follow approved practices for modeling, simulation, and data analytics.+ Utilize critical thinking, strong judgement, and both an autonomous and a collaborative work ethic with sponsors and colleagues. Experience facilitating discussions with executive audiences is a must. ?+ Work with a spectrum of government sponsors to gain understanding of their challenges, evaluate possible solutions, and conduct insightful, actionable analyses. ?+ Present results in an intuitive, actionable manner that can be understood by all sponsor audiences, regardless of technical expertise.Required Qualifications+ Bachelors' degree in Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related technical field of study. + 10+ years of work experience or equivalent combination of education, qualifications, and experience. + Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US government clearance. + Experience designing data science tasking and leading a team of distributed data scientists .+ Demonstrated experience leading customer facing engagements emphasizing data analytics. + Ability to apply, modify, and formulate algorithms and processes to solve challenging problems. + Past track record of innovation and implementing emerging technology and capabilities. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Demonstrated ability to manipulate large datasets and perform calculations with at least one modern programming language like Python, SAS, R, Matlab, C++, or Java. + Experience visualizing multi-dimensional data using tools like Tableau, ggplot2, Plotly, matplotlib, seaborn, or D3.js. + Significant academic background in a quantitative field such as Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics. Preferred Qualifications + Advanced degree in Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related technical field of study. + Prior proven experience with designing and architecting analytic systems from design to production (eg, Minimum Viable Product [MVP]).+ Proven history of coaching, motivating, and leading teams to optimal performance levels by establishing clear goals, reviews, and consistent feedback.+ Experience leading or conducting research. + Experience applying various machine learning approaches (eg, random forest, neural networks, support vector machines) to complex problems. + Prior experience working with databases (eg, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Neo4j). + Experience using version control (eg, Git, Mercurial, SVN) to support collaborative development. + Experience utilizing analytic notebooks (eg, Jupyter, Zeppelin). + Prior experience developing interactive data visualizations using open source web technologies (Angular, Vue, React, D3.js) or other frameworks (Shiny, Plotly Dash).+ Prior experience developing data-intensive full stack containerized web applications using Node.js, Flask, Django, or other technologies.+ Familiarity with working in cloud-based environments like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure and their machine learning tools. + Experience working with big data analytic environments including Apache Spark, Presto, Impala, or other distributed SQL engines. + Active TS/SCI with poly. + Prior experience working with the Department of Defense (DoD) and/or Intelligence Community (IC).
