Employment Type:Full timeShift:Rotating ShiftDescription:Description:Perioperative 101 is a training program for specialty nursing in the Operating Room. Training program is open to new graduate RN's or skilled RN's that wish to train to a specialty area.The Association of peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN) Periop 101: A Core Curriculum (TM) is an exciting educational and training program for the new graduate RN or the experienced RN transitioning to the surgical environment. It provides a solid foundation in evidence-based practices and safe surgical patient care. RNs gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to become a member of a high-performing OR team. The course begins with a didactic portion which includes on-line modules, content videos, in-services, and clinical training which supports the module content. After completing the didactic portion and passing a final exam, the RN begins their clinical orientation as a Circulating RN in the Operating Room. Orientation includes approximately two weeks within the following surgical services: GYN, General/Bariatric, Vascular/Thoracic, Plastics/GU/ENT, Ortho/Neuro, and DaVinci RoboticsGeneral Summary: Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates acceptable performance and applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of routine patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates fundamental patient/family information to health care team. Identifies and communicates variances from patient goals. Responsible for providing and coordinating interdisciplinary patient care utilizing the nursing process.This job description, performance appraisal and competency assessment applies to all Registered Nurses who have successfully met performance expectations for Registered Nurse. The employee supports the Mission of CHE Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.Minimum licensure/certification required (if applicable):Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (BSN or MSN) preferred.Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.BLS certification; additional Life Support training as applicable to unit requirements.Professional specialty certifications may be required in accordance with departmental standards or role requirements.HRPC: Inpatient OB certification for exam-eligible RNs*For RNs working in Labor and Delivery, High Risk Perinatal Center and Float Pool E: NCC EFM Certification. For novice RNs and experienced RNs newly hired, certification must be obtained within twelve months of hire.Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:Current knowledge of nursing skills and practice Computer and audiovisual skills using various applications: Internet, email, word processing Ability to retrieve and interpret data Effectively read, speak, write, compose and comprehend English Effective eye and hand coordination Ability to analyze and synthesize information within a short period of time Effective problem-solving skills Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize Ability to work well with individuals and groupsWorking Conditions:Physical Requirements: Ability to lift patients/patient care equipment up to 35 pounds. Must be able to push, pull, and move patients and patient care equipment. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist and be able to kneel.
