You will serve as a ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR in the Forestry Program of the Installation and Environment Division of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.

Responsibilities

  • You will operate various types of heavy equipment, such as tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, and dump trucks on all types of terrain.
  • You will adjust heavy equipment attachments for proper level, angle, or depth, according to the work to be done and equipment used usually without stopping the equipment.
  • You will build trails, roads, drainage ditches, install culverts, and complete grading to exact specifications to create access for the sale and removal of forest products
  • You will pile slash and clear brush, small trees, stumps and fallen logs; level and grade soil disturbed from logging; and construct erosion control devices and perimeter fire control trails.
  • You will perform preventive maintenance and make minor repairs and adjustments on trucks, heavy equipment, and attachments.
  • You will operate equipment safely and follow established communication plans and lone worker policy.

THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.)

The primary purpose of this position is the operation of various types of heavy equipment to implement forest management activities.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
