The Rates Lead will act as the subject matter expert for the Client Accounting team on Rates.He/she is responsible for rate management in the accounting and ebilling software for the Firm.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOverall rate set entering for the firm in accordance with Accounting guidelinesReview existing rates/rate sets, along with the Alternate Rates team, to ensure accuracy and consistency in rate agreementsAnalyze and monitor rate sets and override rates for accuracy and consistencyProblem solve if rate is not translating properly on a bill or Ledes fileReport to management abnormal Alternate Rate agreements that require refunds, tiered discounts, require monitoring, etc.Communicate alternative fee agreements with billing team members and to clients for electronic billingTrain new staff on Troutman Pepper's Rate Setting processFacilitate communication and problem solvingbetween the billing and Finance teamsAnalyze and regularly report to management the status of Rates set within the portfolioQualificationsMust have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with both attorneys and staffMust possess excellent written and verbal communication skillsMust have excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skillsMust demonstrate ability to analyze complex problems and recommend and/or implement solutionsMust have strong understanding of various software systems applicable to the law firm, specifically in the areas Billing and eBillingProficient in the use of Microsoft Word and ExcelExperience with Law Firm is requiredAbility to work under pressure and balance multiple, competing priorities3-5 Years Legal Billing experienceEducation and/or ExperienceExperience in a law firm in the accounting department; or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.by Jobble
