General Ledger Accountant

General Ledger Accountant will be primarily responsible for managing general ledger activity, preparing related monthly reconciliations, coordinating the monthly closing process and generating the related financial statements, as well as providing team leadership to other accounting staff and assisting with other duties assigned by the Controller and/or CFO. Reportability: General Ledger Accountant will directly report to the Controller. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * Reconcile balance sheet (statement of position) and income statement (statement of activities) accounts on a monthly basis, analyzing for completeness and appropriateness of recorded transactions. * Prepare routine and closing journal entries, and review those prepared by other staff members and accountant(s) as requested by the Controller. * Manage fringe benefits and overhead allocations and interfund / intercompany charges and reconciliations. * Assist in completing grant and contracts reconciliations to the general ledger. * Produce ad hoc financial reports and analysis as assigned and provides schedules to assist with various financial audits. * Review and post invoices and cash receipts to general ledger. * Assist with training and work closely with Accounting Clerk and Account Payable Specialists. * Reconcile quarterly 941 statements to the GL * Handle Property Tax filing and other State tax filing requirements * Update data for 990 & assist in research and analysis functions on data surrounding the healthcare industry. * Monthly expense analysis of all accounts/categories and monthly P&L variance analysis * Assist the Controller and Budget & Contracts Analyst with responding to all levels of management's inquiries on budget, forecasts, and monthly statements. * Assist the Finance Department with implementation of necessary fiscal policies and procedures for efficient and accurate accountability of Mary's Center's finances. Education and/or Experience - BA in Accounting or Finance preferred with minimum of five (5) years of related experience in a non-profit contract/grant management setting. Requires experience in highly computerized environment, the ability to manage multiple tasks with extreme attention to detail and deadlines, and strong analytical and organizational skills. Must be able to work/communicate effectively in a multi-cultural team environment. Physical Demands - Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms; required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work Environment - Mostly in a typical office setting with quite to moderate noise level. Opportunity to work a hybrid schedule - remotely and onsite, as needed.
