As HHMI scientists continue to push boundaries in laboratories and classrooms, you can be sure that your contributions while working here are making a difference.SummaryWe are seeking an Investment Associate to join HHMI's investment office, which manages an endowment with net assets of more than $20 billion.At our headquarters, we provide space for collaboration and interaction beyond your office - sunlit rooms, artwork, beautiful grounds, gyms with classes, snacks, and, of course, smart people and innovative work all around.As an Investment Associate, you will support the management of the Institute's endowment. Responsibilities include supporting investment decision making in two broad areas: (1) markets and/or economic research and (2) investment strategy and manager evaluation. This is a generalist role; you will be expected to participate in the evaluation of investment opportunities across all major asset classes including global public markets, hedge funds, real assets and private equity.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Associate will support investment decision making in:Assessing attractiveness of global markets and investment strategiesManager identification, evaluation and diligence across multiple asset classes including public equities, hedge funds, real assets, private equityMonitoring and re-underwriting existing investmentsReview of direct co-investment opportunities and special projectsAsset allocation and risk managementPreparation of internal and investment committee reports for discussionPromoting the development of new ideas, areas of research, and methods of investingQualificationsEducationBachelors degree required; pre- and post-MBA candidates consideredExperienceTwo to five years of related work experienceSkills and abilitiesSuperior financial modeling and analytic skills with a firm understanding of investment theory and financial marketsExcellent research and critical thinking skills capable of synthesizing large amounts of data and information in a clear and concise mannerStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to take initiative, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlinesWillingness to make independent assessments and recommendationsPassion for investing and intellectually curiousProven history of success and achievementDesire and ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentThe position is for a three-year appointment.
