Our team serves as an investment manager responsible for managing large blocks of employer securities, as an independent fiduciary responsible for making prudent decisions, as a discretionary trustee responsible for administering deferred compensation arrangements, and as an independent auditor responsible for evaluating compliance programs for investment managers. Job Summary: The Senior Fiduciary Consultant for Newport Trust will manage one-time and recurring projects for major financial institutions and asset managers, including third party assessments of business processes, procedural compliance reviews, and independent audits. This position may be based out of one of Newport's Trust locations in Los Angeles, Washington, DC, New York or Minneapolis with the opportunity for remote working available. What You Will Do: Manage complex projects for financial institutions and asset managers by interfacing with clients, conducting due diligence, leading internal review, and preparing deliverables in accordance with engagement deadlines Prepare data requests, review documentation, identify critical information for further review, and follow up on outstanding issues Develop testing protocol to evaluate compliance with policies and procedures related to managing institutional accounts Conduct due diligence by interviewing personnel, observing internal processes and systems, and reviewing reports Perform testing on a representative sample of transactions and institutional accounts over a specified period Prepare reports documenting relevant background information, review process, determinations related to compliance with policies and procedures, and recommendations for improvement Monitor developments with clients, provide committee updates, and present reports for institutional accounts Contribute to business development efforts by performing market research, preparing presentation materials, participating in pitches, networking, and eventually managing the service offering Required Education, Experience and Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a business program or related field (eg, Finance, Economics) 5+ years of professional experience in project management, management consulting, independent auditing, internal audit, compliance, and/or risk management Industry exposure to financial institutions and asset managers serving institutional investors Strong written and verbal communication skills Focused on delivering responsive and high quality service to clients Proven team player who works effectively with colleagues Highly motivated individual with entrepreneurial spirit who is eager to learn, contribute to the team's success, and grow the business Preferred (but not required) education or skills for this role Familiarity with the legal/regulatory issues related to managing institutional accounts, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended (ERISA), and guidance published by the Department of Labor (DOL) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Competencies Client Service Oriented Personable Team Player Proactive Problem Solver Resourceful Independent Integrity Time Management Detail Oriented Travel Up to 5%.
