Job DetailsLevelExperiencedJob LocationVirginia Theological Seminary - ALEXANDRIA, VAPosition TypeFull TimeEducation Level4 Year DegreeTravel PercentageNoneJob ShiftDayJob CategoryAccountingPOSITION SUMMARYThe Staff Accountant, Finance (temporary) is responsible for all areas related to cash management and Investment accounting for the Seminary.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCash ManagementReconcile all various cash and other balance sheet accountsPrepare monthly bank adjusting general journal entriesDevelop, review, and update policies and procedures related to cash management and accounts payableServe as backup to accounts payableInvestment AccountingPrepare and maintain accurate accounting records for various investment vehiclesPrepare account reconciliations and process adjusting entriesPrepare and process quarterly endowment deposits and quarterly spending policiesPrepare Capital Call and Disbursement documents for investments, as neededFixed AssetsIdentify and record capital purchases in Financial Edge's fixed asset moduleRecord disposals of AssetsReconcile Fixed Assets for the annual auditOther Duties:Prepare month-end closing entriesPrepare monthly Financial reports for Department Heads and process requested adjusting entriesAssist with reconciling various balance sheet accountsProcess end of the year 1099'sAttend and take minutes for Finance Committee meetingParticipate in the annual audit and preparation of requested documentation and reportsWork with Vice President for Finance and Operations and Director of Finance and Accounting on special projects as neededPOSITION QUALIFICATIONSCompetencies:Must have high attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to multi-taskMust be self-motivated and able to maintain an organized and appropriately prioritized workloadSKILLS & ABILITIESEducation:BS degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred.Experience:1 - 2 years of relevant accounting experience is preferred.Required Skills:Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.Strong communication skills - written and verbal.PHYSICAL DEMANDSStrong communication skills - written and verbal. Stand, walk, sit, type, reach outward, reach above shoulders up to 8 hours/day. Lift 10lbs or less up to 0-2.5+ hours/dayWORK ENVIRONMENTCore functions of the job must be on-site.
