The CATON CONSTRUCTION GROUP is seeking a Project Engineer to join our project team. We have multiple projects in Virginia and West Virginia.Caton Construction Group is seeking a seasoned Project Engineer for HEAVY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION HIGHWAY/BRIDGE PROJECTS. This position will work closely with Project Managers and assist in all aspects of one or multiple projects including tracking costs, budget, quantities, RFIs, submittals, schedule, subcontractor management and other aspects of the project(s).The Project Engineer will provide technical and functional support to field construction activities. We are looking for a talented candidate who is excited about this industry, confident and articulate, and has a passion for delivering excellence.Summary/ObjectiveThe Project Engineer will perform field engineering, project engineering and/or field supervision in connection with large infrastructure projects. Responsibilities may include: project controls, field engineering, quantity take-off, operational planning, cost control, scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, and coordination of field activities. Maintain records as required regarding submittals, job progress, cost projections, material usage, etc. Understand plans and specifications to determine project quality requirements. Work with suppliers to facilitate the delivery and handling of materials to maintain project schedule.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and/or review project submittals and RFIs prior to sending to owner.Review project plans and specifications and confer with Project Manager and Project Engineer concerning project requirements; such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, evaluation of field conditions, design changes, and reportsManage and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure work is delivered on time, safely, with quality workmanshipMonitor progress and track quantities for payment and cost purposes.Participate in the preparation of the CPM schedule to include durations and sequence of activities; maintain and update CPM schedule on weekly basis.Assist in development of design/drawings for temporary works: for example, falsework, shoring, formwork, etc.Manage procurement and delivery of permanent materials; coordinating material suppliers to meet project schedule requirements.Verify documentation and work completed is compliant with contract plans and specifications; timely submit certifications and other documentation to the appropriate quality control personnel.Develop work plans to successfully execute work activities safely and efficiently.Analyze shop drawings, as-builts, and other contract required documents to ensure completeness and accuracy and submit to the owner with necessary documentationEducation and ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is requiredProficient computer knowledge including Word, Excel, Power Point, BlueBeam, and CAD; and familiarity with P6, and HCSS is a plus.An ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, have excellent people skills, and will be a team playerTravel/ DrivingTravel is primarily local during normal business hours, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.Must possess a valid Driver's License and maintain a good driving record.
