Summary

Hood College's Department of Biology seeks a broadly-trained microbiologist.

Under the general direction of the Biology Department Chair, this full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level begins August 1, 2022.

The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to teaching and the liberal arts, ongoing scholarly research and service to the department and college.

Based on their expertise and interests, the successful candidate is expected to teach, as well as actively mentor and conduct research with students.

Teaching responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, a 200-level course in microbiology for nursing majors, and introductory biology courses. Other teaching responsibilities will include advanced undergraduate and masters-level course(s) in medically-related microbiology or immunology, and/or environmental microbiology depending in their area of expertise.

We seek a candidate with a strong commitment in a liberal arts setting, who is passionate about high-impact learning experiences, and who values diversity, equity and inclusion in all that they do.  Candidates must have strong organizational skills and proven ability to work collaboratively across academic disciplines.

Education and/or Experience

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in an appropriate biological discipline and teaching experience is required. Postdoctoral work and teaching experience are preferred.
