Summary

The incumbent will serve as the Supervisory Radiologic Technologist for the Department and supervises the staff of the Imaging Technology Unit through subordinate supervisors. The staff of Diagnostic Radiological Technologists, Nuclear Medical Technicians and Medical Instrument Technicians perform either multiple modalities, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and CT/General radiology technology work.

Responsibilities

As a Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, you will:
  • Manage the staff, imaging equipment and the budget of the organization;
  • Direct the staff on the use of associated IT systems for imaging workflow management, image display and storage in partnership with the Information and image management team within the department and the facility;
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the daily operations of the work and staff;
  • Serve as a member of the Department's management team and collaborate with other managers and medical personnel;
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures to accomplish the goals of the organization and the utilization of equipment and IT systems including PACS and RIS;
  • Ensure staff is properly trained and proficient in the performance of their duties and responsibilities and that all standards for patient and staff safety are implemented and followed.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist GS-0647-13:

You must have: (1) successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the credentialing standards described in 42 CFR Part 75 that is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as a radiographer as evidenced by an active state or national license which is in good standing.

The following meets the above standards:

1. Persons employed by the Federal Government as a radiologic personnel prior to January 13,1986 who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others.

2. Persons first employed by the Federal Government as a radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who (a) received training from institutions in a State of foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation

OR

(b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence as determined by OPM or the employing agency.

AND

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following tasks: providing leadership and oversight to lead technologists and other staff members; training staff on the proper performance of imaging procedures; monitoring the operation of complex imaging equipment (eg. CT, MR, diagnostic ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, SPECT, PET/CT, etc.) and related computer software/hardware and image storage and display systems; collaborating in the planning of performance improvement projects; evaluating the effectiveness of current imaging department practices and directing improvements to maintain state of the art imaging services.

Certification, licensure, or registration credentials by ARRT is preferred for this position.
