Summary

As a Motor Vehicle Operator Supervisor, the incumbent will provide direction and planning of work assignments to a group of employees providing transportation services for USDA personnel and courier services of outgoing mail and special delivery service to accomplish mission objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Plans use of subordinate workers equipment, facilities, materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis; establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences.
  • Performs driving assignments as needed to check the condition of vehicles and make deliveries/pickups.
  • Assures that drivers are aware of and adhere to regulations governing the use of official vehicles.
  • Inspects vehicles for cleanliness, damage and mechanical or other unsafe conditions, and assures scheduling of regular servicing of vehicles and repairs or adjustments when needed.
  • Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes; implements corrective actions to resolve work problems; and recommends solutions.
  • Assists in investigations of reported discrepancies and problems arising in connection with pickup and/or delivery of items. Prepares and assures the prompt and accurate submission of required reports.
  • Performs driving assignments as needed to check the condition of vehicles and make deliveries/pickups.
  • Ensures that credit cards, license plates, ignition keys are safe guarded and prompt submission of forms or other reports pertaining to vehicle operation.
  • Assures that drivers are aware of and adhere to regulations governing the use of official vehicles.

  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. Applicant must have a clean driving record.
  • Federal employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of their duty location. If selected, you will be required to submit documentation of COVID-19 vaccination by November 22, 2021 or before appointment, if after November 22.
  • The agency will provide additional information regarding what COVID-19 vaccination information or documentation will be needed and how you can request of the agency a legally required exception from this requirement.
  • Subject to one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable. New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.
