Responsibilities

As a Supervisory Affordable Housing Specialist, you will:

- Develop policy positions with other HUD offices, including Office of General Counsel, Housing, Public and Indian Housing, Policy Development and Research, Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity and other offices in Community Planning and Development.

- Direct staff responsible for providing advice and guidance for the implementation of HOME and/or HTF regulations, policies, and guidelines. This includes direct communication with field staff, participating jurisdictions, public interest groups and others.

- Analyze and comment on proposed legislation, regulations, and other issuances for the Division.

- Represent the Division in meetings with key Departmental staff. Represent the Department before national conferences, OMB, Congressional staff, and stakeholder groups on specific subject areas, including explaining and defending program policies. Address stakeholder groups to describe program requirements and provide updates on current program issues.

- Recommend initiatives or actions to senior management that support the development and implementation of program goals and objectives.

    Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

    Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position is defined as:
    - Interpreting and disseminating policies, regulations, procedures, and operational processes for affordable housing and homeless programs; AND
    - Administering the Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) or other affordable housing programs that serve homeless persons; AND
    - Providing direction and guidance to staff such as establishing priorities and providing feedback on performance; AND
    - Communicating programmatic matters on affordable housing and homeless assistance to various levels of senior officials.


    Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.     CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • A one year probationary period may be required.
    • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.

        first dose is October 18, 2021, and second dose is November 8, 2021
    • If receiving the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine, the deadlines are as follows:
        first and only dose is November 8, 2021
