This position is located at Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, SUPERVISION EXAMINATIONS. As a Consumer Financial Protection Analyst, you will lead in the development, implementation, and operation of tools and systems to support the CFPB's supervisory reporting, risk analytics, monitoring, prioritization, and scheduling processes.

Responsibilities

The following are the duties of this position at the CN-53, broadly equivalent to the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
  • Leads in the development and delivery of reporting and analytics on supervisory activities for senior CFPB leadership and externally reported performance metrics.
  • Leads in the production and development of reports based on data analytics that promote efficient use of Bureau resources and close adherence to examinations policy and provides technical data structure and analysis assistance to Supervision stakeholders.
  • Applies comprehensive knowledge of consumer financial protection issues and the federal consumer protection laws and regulations governing these issues to, among other things, develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs to provide strategic and analytical support regarding key systems and projects on system analytics; exam reporting; and entity monitoring, prioritization, and exam scheduling.

Once employees are permitted to return to the office and maximum telework is revoked, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement. At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework on a routine or situational basis in accordance with the Bureau's telework policy.

    Qualifications

    For the CN-53, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the CN-52 grade level in the Federal service. (For qualification purposes, the CN-52 is broadly equivalent to the GS-12).Specialized Experience for this position includes:
    • Leading the development, implementation, and operation of tools and systems related to examinations, compliance, risk management, audits, or reviews of consumer financial services institutions or companies; (using platforms such as, but not limited to, Salesforce, Tableau, Microsoft Power Platform applications (i.e. Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Virtual Agent, Dataverse)); AND
    • Performing data mining or statistical analysis on datasets, and providing summaries of findings through data visualization and written reporting; AND
    • Leading the design and development of projects using programming languages such as SQL, R and Python; AND
    • Led in the development of policies and procedures for operational needs; AND
    • Communicating technical financial subjects to senior management; and/or external stakeholders
    For the CN-52, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the CN-51 grade level in the Federal service. (For qualification purposes, the CN-51 is broadly equivalent to the GS-11).Specialized Experience for this position includes:
    • Development, implementation, and operation of tools and systems related to examinations, compliance, risk management, audits, or reviews of consumer financial services institutions or companies; (using platforms such as, but not limited to, Salesforce, Tableau, Microsoft Power Platform applications (i.e. Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Virtual Agent, Dataverse)); AND
    • Performing data mining or statistical analysis on large datasets, and providing summaries of findings through data visualization and written reporting; AND
    • Experience in the design and development of projects using programming languages such as SQL, R and Python; AND
    • Experience in supporting the development of policies and procedures for operational needs; AND
    • Assisting in the communication of technical financial subjects to senior management and external stakeholders

    For the CN-51, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the CN-40 grade level in the Federal service. (For qualification purposes, the CN-40 is broadly equivalent to the GS-09).Specialized Experience for this position includes:
    • Performing data mining or statistical analysis on large datasets, and providing written summaries of findings through data visualization and written reporting; AND
    • Experience in the design and development of projects using programming languages such as SQL, R and Python; AND
    • Experience in supporting the development of policies and procedures for operational needs;

    OR You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows:
    Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such degree from an accredited college or university. To be qualifying, graduate education must be in a field of study directly related to the duties of this position and must have provided the knowledge, skills and abilities that would be acquired through one year of specialized experience as described above

    OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
