We are committed to our mission to improve lives because, every day, we witness the enormous impact of our efforts on the world around us.The Human Resources Manager will be a member of the plant leadership team for Saint-Gobain Life Sciences in Gaithersburg, MD, providing management and oversight of all human resource functions: organizational development, health and worker's compensation, recruitment, benefits, payroll, talent development and training functions.The HR Manager will develop and facilitate the implementation of a plan designed to move the manufacturing plant toward world-class stature in employee engagement and human resource processes. This effort includes organizational assessment and diagnosis, development and training, employee involvement, team development, and group facilitation.The HR Manager Will coach managers and employees to achieve the communication practices that cultivate a world class safety environment and an excellent employee experience.Will oversee compensation & benefits administration, communications, and will manage 3rd provider relations and local contracts.Will coach employees and leaders to cultivate a culture that reflects Saint Gobain's principles of conduct and action, attitudes and the Life Sciences collaborative/teams based culture expected.Will collaborate with Life Sciences Central HR team to disseminate/implement relevant HR practices, policies and procedures.Essential Functions:Leads the plants World Class Manufacturing People Development Continuous Improvement Program and pillar teamConducts strategic workforce planning, organizational assessments and succession planning with leadership steering committeeIdentifies internal and external resources to address gaps in skills and capabilities needed for the effective and efficient operation of the plantEnsures compliance for traceability of required trainingFacilitates a variety of developmental and compliance trainingFacilitates annual succession planning and people development reviews ensuring progress on employee development plansHuman Resources and Employee Relations:Cultivates a culture based on trust, empowerment, collaboration and inclusion.Conducts round tables, check ins to keep pulse on employee relations(Manages the collective bargaining agreement processes, minimizing grievances and arbitration. Partners with labor relations and plant leadership team, where applicable).Manages and teaches risk mitigation as it relates to employee relations, wage and hour and worker's compensation.Manages end to end recruiting process from, sourcing, staffing and selection processes (including internal job posting, candidate sourcing, screening, interviews and selection decisions) through onboard and new hire training completion. Partners with local temporary staffing firms and colleges and universities to staff for peak production seasons, internships, co-ops etc.Directs and oversees performance management systems and processes (annual reviews, one-on-one coaching, progressive discipline, investigations)Develops and implements must-win-battles as they relate to employee engagement, culture and lean and agile workforce for the plant location; collaborates with business unit leadership to facilitate group-wide must win battles.Coaches plant leaders through employee relations issues and post survey managementEnsures compliance with Fair Labor Standards Act, internal reporting and controls.Manage wage and benefit administration (local surveys, competitive analysis job banding, job progression, wage increase recommendations, pay and bonus administration)Manage new hire onboarding and job training and certification processesDevelop, implement and insure consistent application of federal, state, local, company business unit and plant policies and procedures. Is the local subject matter expert as it relates to state and local law/requirements.In collaboration with leadership team, oversee communications processes and systems within the plant (from local town hall meetings to pre-shift huddles, benefits enrollment, LiveWell, Safety and EHS days)Lead, support, develop direct/indirect reports. Develop short- and long-range objectives, work assignments, workload balancing, and accountabilitiesEnsure company and government reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time.Develop and manage HR and Training budgetsInsure HRIS is maximized in plant, implementing database solutions to reduce non- value added workIs responsible for the accurate and timely systems processing for hourly workforce changes in the HR systems.Conducts annual internal controls audit for HR function, identifying gaps, documenting and executing risk mitigation to ensure compliance.Leads the interactive process with employees and leaders regarding reasonable accommodations. Understands and manages employee expectations and business risk.Is the location subject matter expert and coordinates with BU HR Director, Compliance, Labor relations and employment attorneys regarding the management of business risks associated with workplace and labor managementAdditional Accountabilities:Leads by example by participating in EHS reporting (behavior based observations, near misses and unsafe conditions)Understands manufacturing safe practices and Saint Gobain safety standards - can identify gaps or issues on the floor and take appropriate action.Manages H&S compliance programs, associated with FMLA, STD, LTD, worker's compensation, periodic health checks (like hearing testing)Leads the conversations with injured employees to ensure appropriate and timely actionSupports the plant preparation and coordination of internal audits, safety workouts,Safety team or EHS pillar memberIs responsible for ESIS and worker's compensation management for the site - coordinating with EHS Manager and Plant ManagerParticipates in Management of Change reviews and/or safety incident investigationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree - Human Resources, Business or Related Field; RequiredMaster's Degree - MBA or Related Area; Preferred.10+ years of human resources experience, within corporate or manufacturing environment; Required.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects; Required.Company SummarySaint-Gobain's innovations touch almost every major industry around the world.
