The Preconstruction Engineer is responsible for assisting the Preconstruction Manager and Preconstruction Team on assigned construction projects. The position performs routine daily activities and gathers and distributes information to subcontractors, consultants, architects, and clients. Candidates must be flexible and adaptable team-players, and have strong communication and client service skills. Work will be performed both in office and on jobsite. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:Assist in estimating and take-offs of projects throughout design processMaintain drawing log and update construction documents to most current set, including addendaManage bid list and contact informationCoordinate and assemble bid packagesDistribute project documents to subcontractorsAssist in developing subcontractor scopes of workSolicit and coordinate price studies with subcontractorsReview and qualify subcontractor proposals to assure compliance with contract documentsAssist Team Managers with developing site specific logistics plansMake site visits to understand construction process and familiarize self with various jobsites and jobsite conditionsRequirements:Bachelor's Degree (Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture related disciplines are preferred)Familiarity with Microsoft suite software, NewForma, Bluebeam, On-Screen Take-off, Google Sketch-up, AutoCAD, RevitAbility to read construction documentsAbility to manage competing priorities in a deadline driven work environmentExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenDesire to gain experience in construction engineeringPreference will be given to candidates with previous experience in construction industry.
