Vice President Communications
Position Summary The Vice President, Communications will create and lead the team 's overall communications strategy, collaborate with the executive team to lead a robust media relations function, lead the team 's social media strategy and presence including determining key channels, experimenting with content and format types, and agency management, and drive content creation, branding, and the team 's overall marketing strategy. While subject to change at the discretion of Club Management, the outline of the position as of today is as follows: Supervisor Responsibilities This position is responsible for supervision of the Communications staff. Hires, trains and mentors staff. Organizes schedules of staff. Conducts performance evaluations and provides feedback that is timely and constructive. Handles discipline and termination as needed and in accordance with company policy. Duties/Responsibilities Oversees and produces, from concept to completion, a broad array of digital and/or print promotional and communication materials for the organization. Ensures that all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization and/or brand. Plans, prepares, and distributes original promotional content such as articles, news and press releases, email, blog and social media posts, and other updates on behalf of the organization. Promotes and attends special events and functions; promotes and reports on corporate milestones and activities such as company goals and projects; new products or services; community service activities; and new hires, promotions, and retirements. Arranges for photography and/or press coverage for special events. Performs other related duties as assigned. Skills & Abilities Ability to work independently, with minimal daily supervision Ability to exercise strong independent judgement and decisiveness Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to produce alignment across cross-functional teams Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and desktop publishing software Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to motivate team members Ability to multitask and meet deadlines Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays when the game schedule and workload require it Ability to attend all home games Education & Experience Bachelors degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing Communications or related field required. 6+ years of experience in communications, public relations programs, marketing or a related field required. Sports and/or soccer industry experience preferred.
