OrganizationThe Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, the Bureau of Indian Education, and five US extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO provides leadership, advocacy, and technical assistance on major educational issues. CCSSO seeks member consensus on major educational issues and expresses their views to civic and professional organizations, federal agencies, Congress, and the public.SummaryThe Senior Marketing Specialist is responsible for planning and executing CCSSO marketing activities. This position works to promote CCSSO events, services and offerings such as program work, resources and webinars. A significant portion of this position's responsibilities involves optimizing and managing email marketing; planning and executing digital marketing campaigns; collecting, analyzing and using data to improve marketing efforts. The Senior Marketing Specialist, who works with teams Council-wide from income development to programs, reports to the Director of Communications and serves as a thought partner on methods to continually engage members in innovative ways.Marketing StrategyWork with the communications and income development teams to identify, develop, and implement marketing strategies to advance CCSSO's brand and visibility goals.Analyze market trends and recommend changes to marketing strategies and tools.Work with the communications team to suggest innovative online approaches to marketing, including web-based promotions, social media outreach, and other digital marketing opportunities.Support the income development team with digital marketing expertise that may improve fundraising or development goals.Technical ExpertiseLead general digital process to support campaigns, initiatives and programs, from initial strategy session to managing content creation and setting up back-end analytics to track outcomes.Oversee the creation and delivery of advertisements and marketing materials.Gather and analyze constituent (members, sponsors and funders, attendees, prospects) information for improving the organization's communications or expanding its reach.Maintain CMS for newsletters, e-mail campaigns and marketing (such as Blue Hornet, Pardot, MailChimp).Design graphics and handle light video editing.Provide technical expertise to produce email acquisition, alignment with digital channels, and support overall development strategy.Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree in business, marketing, or another related field requiredMinimum three years of experience developing and executing marketing plans and or strategy execution, and analytics experienceKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExceptionally strong analytical skills, with an ability to translate data into actionable insights.Strategic thinker who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environmentAbility to manage multiple priorities and coordinate projectsHighly detail-oriented with strong organizational skillsSkilled in graphic designPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
