Job Description Director of Nursing (DON) for private pay Home Health Agency Moon River Senior Care in Ashburn, Virginia is now interviewing for an extraordinary individual to join our team as Director of Nursing. This position can be full-time or part-time and involves being a key representative to clients, families, employees and community partners. It requires an experienced nurse who has demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Candidates must be licensed RN in the state of Virginia with a minimum 2 years experience as a nurse supervisor. Preference given to RN, BSN candidates. The DON will supervise nursing staff and ensure older adults are receiving person-centered home care to enjoy the best possible quality of life. The DON often provides the first impression of the company and is expected to handle multiple responsibilities with tact and professionalism. Key responsibilities of Director of Nursing Complete understanding of Home Health Regulations in Virginia. Responsible that nursing care is delivered in compliance with State regulations. Keep abreast of state and national policies related to in-home care. Manage home care and ensure the agency meets high standards in keeping with its reputation as a leader in the industry. Implement new initiatives as needed to be in compliance, including knowledge of infectious disease protocol. Coordinate respiratory program led by contracted provider. Accept and document initial inquiries from prospective home care clients. Assess and prepare Plan of Care for new clients and update as needed. Conduct reassessments every 90 days or more often as needed. Communicate with clients, family members and caregivers in order to provide support that recognizes each client as an individual with a unique ilfe history. Coordinate staff orientation and competency in specific skills as needed for client care. Provide ongoing supervision for in-home aides and skilled nursing cases and work with HR director on performance evaluations. Interview and hire skilled nurses and delegate responsibiilties. Counsel nurses and aides on clinical and performance issues and conduct annual evaluations Educate clients on medical and pharmaceutical issues as needed Conduct staff meetings and training/educational programs (CNA -12 CEUs annually) Assist with development/review of clinical procedures Work with agency leadership team to develop systems to improve efficiency. Meet with employees ro performance standards are met and that staff feels supported.
