Failure to provide proof of vaccination or to obtain approval for a medical or religious exemption will result in the offer of employment being rescinded.Position Summary/Purpose of Position:The Institute for Robust Quantum Simulation is an NSF Quantum Leap Challenge Institute is devoted to theoretical and experimental research on quantum simulation. The Institute will also carry out educational and outreach programs aimed at nurturing a quantum-capable workforce. The Institute is headquartered at the University of Maryland, with partners at Duke, North Carolina State, Princeton, and Yale Universities.Under the supervision of the Institute Director, the Director of Operations will work with an Executive Council to determine research capacity and direction, establish community engagement apparatus, and to develop and deploy programs such as workshops and conferences, a seed grant program, and a network of institute partners. This involves guiding Institute leadership and researchers to define programs, planning activities, coordinating events, gathering information and formulating reports, presenting to advisory boards, and supervising education/outreach and communications staff.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a technical (science, engineering, or mathematics) or business field.At least ten years of professional experienceAt least four years of supervisory experienceStrong leadership and organizational skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong computer skillsAbility to work on multiple tasks within a given timeframeAttention to detailTimely follow-throughSensitivity in working with domestic and international visitors, faculty, and staffSensitivity in working with high-level industry, government, and University personnelPreferences:Master's degree or Ph.D. in a subject related to quantum science and technologyExperience with project/center coordination and meeting organizationAdditional Certifications:Additional Information:Please include the names and contact information for up to five professional references.Job Risks Not Applicable to This PositionPhysical DemandsWork is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
