Failure to provide proof of vaccination or to obtain approval for a medical or religious exemption will result in the offer of employment being rescinded.Position Summary/Purpose of Position:The Academic and Administrative Coordinator is responsible for providing executive level support to the Chair's Office through the management and oversight of all administrative responsibilities relating to the daily operations of the main administrative office, external relations, event management and faculty affairs for The Department of Economics. Duties and responsibilities include:Oversight, Scheduling and Coordination of operations for the main administrative office which includes the supervision, mentoring and performance review of one staff member.This position serves as the administrative and functional point person as well as the primary liaison to internal and external constituents on behalf of the Chair of the Department of Economics.Manages and coordinates on and off-site Departmental meetings, conferences, events, and projects and all associated travel. Oversees and supervises the coordination of the seminar series.Coordinates and manages all aspects of tenure track faculty administration for the Department.Manages Departmental external relations and plans outreach and development strategy in conjunction with BSOS Development Office. Manages the Chair's involvement in donor relations, development and strategic outreach. Manages relations with a significant range of individuals and external and internal organizations and associations.This position includes event planning. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required as well as occasional overnight travel.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree is required and 3-5 Years of administrative support experience in an office setting. Experience with maintaining content on a professional website and proficient with computer applications.Preferences:Experience working at the University of Maryland or in an academic setting preferred.Supervisory experience preferred.Ideal candidate will have excellent writing and English language communication skills. Will be professional, tactful, reliable, dependable, detail oriented, have strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills, be able to learn quickly, provide excellent customer service, have excellent attendance and be punctual, be energetic and enthusiastic, work independently and cooperatively, and be accurate and flexible.Additional Certifications:Additional Information:For best consideration, please apply online by October 18, 2021.
