Position SummaryThe digital marketing manager is an expert of web production and digital marketing. This person supports the content marketing team through building web pages, managing email marketing programs and integrating paid media onto . This person is at home working in a website content management system, communicates constantly, understands messaging to any audience, is well-organized and approaches their work analytically. As a digital marketer, this person must be passionate about organic and paid search, website and email performance and optimization, content marketing strategy and most of all, promoting Washington, DC as a travel destination. Success will be defined by how well this individual helps contribute to the marketing and communications team's goals, specifically achieving pageviews and unique visitors KPIs. The marketer must also strategize and execute ways to improve site engagement, increase email open rates and support member and partner businesses. The individual will work closely with the content manager and associate director of content marketing to maintain, grow and improve Destination DC's digital marketing efforts.Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, but are not limited to)With guidance from associate director of content marketing, creates, updates and improves web pages across all Destination DC web properties using content management systems, HTML/CSS and other technologiesAssists in the planning and building of webpages, microsites and other web-based projectsManages SEO strategy for , proactively updates existing content and sources new content opportunitiesBuilds and manages paid search engine marketing campaignsMonitors websites to ensure content remains fresh and engaging; edits and updates copy as needed; identifies missing or outdated information and areas of improvementSupports content marketing strategy that aligns with multi-channel advertising campaignsInterfaces with digital marketing agencies to coordinate web projectsMonitors user behavior and traffic flows on web properties to ensure an engaging user experienceExplores and implements new technologies on digital properties that enhance the user experience and achieve company objectivesFunctions as content and web liaison between departments dealing with the heads of marketing, convention sales, tourism and partnerships to address website needsAssists in online ad trafficking, reporting and analysisBuilds, formats and sends email communications including member and consumer newsletters, updates and invitesOversees DDC's external email communications calendarActively seeks ways to improve email communications based on member and internal feedbackWorks with creative project manager to streamline the production and distribution of email communicationsReviews and analyzes metrics to drive changes in email communication strategyMonitors email marketing trends and best practicesEducates others in email marketing best practicesTrains key support staff in the use of CMS and CRM systemsSources approved user-generated content via CrowdRiff for marketing usePerforms other related duties as assignedServes as an expert of the city by developing comprehensive knowledge of DC from dining, hotels and attractions to culture, history and entertainment.Experience, Competencies & EducationA minimum of four years' experience in digital marketing with a focus on digital content productionFour-year degree from an academic institution in marketing or relevant fieldMastery of website content management systems (eg, Drupal, Wordpress,)Mastery of email marketing software (eg, Act-On, Cvent, Marketo, MailChimp)Mastery of organic search and experience in paid search preferredExcellent verbal, written and proofreading skills.
