Westat has an immediate opening for a Technical Assistance Specialist to support its clients and customers, including federal, state, and local education officials, in their efforts to implement and improve program performance related to individuals with disabilities.  You will join our Education Practice and focus on technical assistance.

Job Responsibilities:
• Provide technical assistance to state and local agencies regarding the collection, analysis, reporting, and use of special education data. 
• Build relationships with state and local agency staff to understand contexts and identify areas of need.
• Develop resources to improve the quality of state and local special education data and services.
• Work with a team to plan, implement, and deliver services to states and others.
• Direct junior staff and manage multiple tasks in a team-oriented environment.
• Contribute to Westat efforts to develop and maintain work, including efforts focused on study design, research methods, survey operations, measurement, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and technical reporting.

Basic Qualifications:
• Master's in Education or a related social science field and 8 years of experience with technical assistance related to disability, education programs and policy; Or a Ph.D. in Education or related social science field and 2 years of experience with technical assistance related to disability, education programs and policy.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with State and Local education agencies, preferably as part of large Federal contracts or grants.
• Experience with special education or early intervention issues and policy.  
• Specific experience with data required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 
• Interest in the advancement of educational equity.

In this role you will use your excellent writing, presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.  You will also be comfortable managing multiple tasks in a collaborative team environment.
