STScI is seeking a Senior Project Manager who will be responsible for successfully leading and managing Information Technology and other business projects while working as part of a team in the Information and Technology Services Division (ITSD).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate shall possess knowledge and experience in the following:
- Leading medium to large scale IT projects utilizing a waterfall, Agile or a hybrid framework throughout the lifecycle of the project
- Portfolio, Program and Project Management
- Requirements Management
- Resource Management
- Risk Management
- Change Management
- Proficiency in Program and Project Management Tools
- IT processes
Candidate should possess the following "soft" skills:
- Demonstrated communication skills with ability to successfully communicate with a wide variety of staff members, such as technical staff, C-level leaders, visitors and guests
- Proven leadership skills
- Demonstrated evidence of excellent customer service
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems in real time
- Proven ability to collaborate with staff having diverse viewpoints, objectives and styles
- Proven ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
- Proven negotiation skills
- Adept at balancing multiple priorities and multi-tasking
- Ability to successfully work in high pressure situations
- Ability to successfully train, coach and mentor others
Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Software Engineering with a minimum of six year’s project management experience in a formal IT organization. PMI certification such as PMP, ACP and experience working across multiple subsystems is required, Agile Certifications preferred. Note: Substitution of additional relevant education or experience for stated qualifications may be considered. The starting position and salary are commensurate with education and experience.
Candidates must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident. ITAR clearance is required.
