Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the acceptance of freight shipments and the retrieval of paper products and raw materials.
  • Maintain a safe operation and clean working environment for the personnel and equipment on the loading dock.
  • Oversee the internal dock area parking lot for inbound freight shipments.
  • Responsible for operating material handling equipment (MHE), which consists of powered forklifts, clamp trucks with lift capacity of 4,000 pound and pallet jacks.

  • You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
  • Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Non Sensitive Low risk .
  • Physical - Effort: Peforms warehousing work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require incumbent to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts moderately heavy items that weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Work Conditions: Subject to falling objects, collisions, shifting loads, overturning of fork trucks and congested operating.
  • A valid Forklift Operator's license is required.
  • Required license to operate a Powered Clamp Forklift Truck


Qualifications

To qualify for the Materials Handler(Dock Master), KX - 6907 - 7 , you must meet the following requirements:

Skill to navigate the Oracle system and Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Skill in the use of meters, scales, rulers, conveyors, and lifts.
Skill stacking, moving, and arranging items on pallets and must consider height, weight, and special handling requirements.

Background Investigation:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. GPO Remote Work Policy: GPO offers a flexible work arrangement in which an employee can work most or all of the time from a different geographic area. Remote workers will be expected to be able to perform job duties on the date of their entrance on duty and/or the date of the telework agreement. Final pay will be determined upon selection with regard to locality pay and location of selectee. This position is not eligible for Remote work.
