Summary

The position serves as a Social Worker, located in the Office of Behavioral Interventions (OBI) is a component of CSOSA and comprised of a residential facility, the Re-Entry and Sanctions Center (RSC), Assessment, Evaluation and Placement Unit (AEPU), Restorative Justice Unit (RJU) and the Intensive Cognitive Behavioral Interventions Unit (ICBIU).

Responsibilities

Cultivates uniform and evidence-driven social work practices across the agency that are strength-based, ecosystemic, and healing-informed. Builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders; establishes and maintains strong referral networks; supports program staff and internal and external stakeholders in coordinating care for returning citizens.

Participates in, coordinates, and/or manages agency programs and projects. Provides administrative and operational oversight for contracted behavioral healthcare services.

Screens, assess, and coordinates care for returning citizens with mental health conditions. Develops appropriate treatment plans, monitors progress, and makes adjustments where indicated. Considers the client assessment and the ability of the client to accept different types of assistance in making initial and continuing decisions as to the applicability of available services and/or the need for additional support.

Establishes connections with other agencies to build a robust referral network and identify opportunities for collaboration.

Ensures organizational compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements by staying informed on existing and new legislation; facilitates adherence to requirements; advises management on needed actions; and maintains confidentiality.

Expected to perform case management duties, provide individual as well as group therapy services, complete psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, coordinate discharge as well as provide administrative and operational oversight for contracted behavioral health services.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13 level if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:

A. Must fulfill all of the requirements for a Master's degree in Social Work, including a practicum from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

AND

In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirement, applicants must have specialized experience.

B. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to provide intensive case management services for offenders with diagnosed mental health conditions; for offenders that require focused monitoring, including ensuring that they comply with evaluation, treatment, and medication regimens as directed by order of the Court or the paroling authority.

License (current/active): Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW), and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
