The incumbent of this position is an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) assigned to the Cybersecurity Policy and Compliance Division (CPCD), Office of Critical Infrastructure and IT Security (OCIITS), Chief Information Officer (CIO) Directorate, Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP).

Responsibilities

As an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), you will:

-Conduct risk assessments, security evaluations, and reviews of information systems and technologies throughout the system life cycle.
-Design, develop, and recommend acquisition specifications related to IT security considerations and appropriate security design features and safeguards.
-Conduct program oversight, including on-going monitoring and periodic auditing of systems and systems operations, to insure early resolution of security issues that develop.
-Provide leadership and expert advice with regard to systems security during development, implementation, operation, retirement, and disposal of IT systems and equipment.

  • SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background investigation and favorable adjudication. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough. Falsification discovered in security documents or during the background investigation process may result in an immediate negative suitability determination or immediate revocation of your interim clearance (if applicable).

    Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

    For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Participating in the development of risk programs affecting information technology security throughout an organization. Examples of such experience could include: Identifying and monitoring risks and vulnerabilities in system development, operations, and management methods; developing policies, procedures and technologies to minimize risks and vulnerabilities; developing audit plans, and conducting audits, vulnerability and risk analyses and evaluating the adequacy of management, operational and technical controls to provide information assurance; isolating and defining unprecedented conditions of risk and vulnerability affecting network security throughout an organization.

    In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
    1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
    2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
    3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
    4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    OTHER INFORMATION:

    • The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for work days during the shutdown period.
    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    • Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.
    • As required by Executive Order 14043, Federal employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee's duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework, remote work, etc.), subject to such exceptions as required by law. If selected, you will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and submit documentation of proof of vaccination by November 22, 2021 or before appointment or onboarding with the agency, if after November 22. The agency will provide additional information regarding what information or documentation will be needed and how you can request of the agency a legally required exception from this requirement.
    • Due to COVID-19, the agency is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement. At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the agency's telework policy.
