Summary

As an Attorney-Advisor, NB-0905-VI, you will perform complex legal work which influences the operation of a national bank or internal OCC operations and counsel OCC management, client divisions and management of national banks on the legality, safety, and soundness of OCC internal and/or national bank operations.

Responsibilities

As an Attorney-Advisor, you will:
  • Research, analyze, and interpret wide-ranging banking issues, including those involving safety and soundness, problem banks, consumer law, compliance, the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, insider abuse/fraud, data integrity/breach, and administrative law.
  • Counsel, in writing and verbally, OCC management, supervision, and licensing on complex legal matters, including with respect to investigation findings and enforcement action options and recommendations.
  • Exercise independent judgment and successfully collaborate with a range of OCC personnel including attorneys and examiner throughout the agency.
  • Represent the legal practice and policy of the Comptroller in meetings with bank management, bank counsel, private attorneys, consumers, and other governmental agencies concerning complex legal matters.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-V band level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
  • Experience advising on laws, rules, and regulations relating to the supervision of national banks and thrifts or specific to enforcement matters, in two or more of the following areas: safety and soundness, problem banks, consumer law, compliance, the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, insider abuse/fraud, data integrity/breach, and administrative law.

AND

Must be an active member of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.

Current OCC employees must have a performance rating of at least Level 3 overall and for all critical performance elements to be eligible for promotion.

The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Education

You must have graduated with a J.D. or an LL.M. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Salary range includes 22.26% or does not include geographical pay.
