Sr Manager - Product Management, Automation Center of Expertise

Job Description

When you look around the world, do you see opportunities to change customers' lives? Imagine a place where every customer is an advocate because we are easily able to predict and adapt to their evolving needs. Sounds exciting? We think so!

At Capital One, we think big and do big things. We were the first company to develop and offer mass customization and personalization of credit card products, and we have been innovating relentlessly ever since. Today we are a high-tech company, a scientific laboratory, and a nationally recognized brand all in one that reaches tens of millions of consumers. We are a passionate and entrepreneurial team that embraces bold ideas, fosters collaboration and delivers great experiences for our customers.

If you have the drive to build amazing consumer products which are customer backed, data and insights driven, and impact the lives of millions daily, we want you!

The Role

The Enterprise Services Risk (ESR) organization is committed to Harnessing Technology, Automation, and Innovation to Re-Imagine Risk Services and using our expertise to Lead, Enable and Influence Key Enterprise Initiatives. Our Enterprise Services Risk Analytics (ESRA) team plays a key role in achieving these imperatives by leveraging existing and emerging technologies to deliver a suite of reporting, automation, and insightful analytics capabilities that enable and empower our risk professionals.

Our team is selectively recruiting a high energy, forward-thinking Senior Product Manager to enable divisional teams to drive their Digital Workforce automation agenda. You will be partnering with internal business customers to create, embed, and cultivate low-code, intelligent process automation capabilities and governance at an enterprise scale.

Within this role you will work with a cross-functional team of product managers, business analysts, engineers, designers and operations specialists to drive and refine the vision and strategy for our enterprise-wide Automation Center of Expertise. There is a high focus on simplification and collaboration. As we look to implement new technology and tools, you will be expected to be a change agent that enables the workforce and stakeholders to adopt low code, intelligent process automation solutions with the proper guard rails that mitigate risk and enable citizen development in a well-managed way.

The Person

We are seeking passionate, disciplined, technically curious professionals who obsess over using technology to enable and empower the overall associate experience while thriving in an entrepreneurial environment driven by analysis and creativity.

The ideal candidate is someone who has the following traits:
  • Intellectually Curious. You ask why, you explore, you're not afraid to blurt out your crazy idea or follow an email chain for weeks to find someone with an answer. Comfortable with ambiguity, a hunger to learn and a seeker of new challenges.
  • Communicator & Influencer. You can communicate complex ideas clearly regardless of your audience. You are a fantastic, inspiring storyteller and will feel comfortable presenting to teams at all levels from senior executives to front-line performers. You have an ability to influence without direct authority across leadership teams in business, technology, risk management, and operations.
  • Do-er. You're biased toward action, you try things and sometimes you fail. You can get around roadblocks and stay focused on your goals. You're well organized, able to multitask and able to prioritize your work.
  • Passionate & Customer Focus. You care about growing others and bringing them together around what's possible. You get a thrill from the journey of building and shipping products, and you have a desire and ability to connect with our external or internal customers to fully understand their needs.
  • Learner. You have an appetite to learn new things or new technologies all while exhibiting humbleness when the time comes to ask for help.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit. You have a vision and will drive a strategy that delivers the vision across a multi-year roadmap. You will lead with a product mindset and define and drive product objectives with business acumen, success metrics, design thinking, and customer empathy.
  • Risk Lens . You can apply a risk perspective towards creating a safety net that supports citizen development leveraging enterprise low code common capabilities.
  • Domain Expertise. You have the technical expertise to serve as a domain expert in technologies like machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), robotic process automation (RPA), and application programming interfaces (API) to influence technology partners across the enterprise.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of leading cross-functional product or platform teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA focused on entrepreneurship, product development, corporate innovation, or design thinking
  • At least 1 year of experience in a related business role such as risk management or process management

  • At least 3 years of experience building features or capabilities on cloud-based platforms
  • Certification or training in Lean Six Sigma, Scrum, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or PMI-ACP
