POSITION SUMMARY: The Dental Services Manager works hand-in-hand with the Dental Director to manage the non-clinical functions of the Dental Department. Responsibilities include the management of day-to-day business operations and dental equipment maintenance to include administrative functions, purchasing, support staff supervision, customer service and quality management KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure that practice site efficiencies, compliance, employee satisfaction and patient satisfaction are met.Manage the dental support staff time and attendance as well as performance evaluations/competency and staff recruitment. Works closely with the Dental Director on the creation and coordination of dental schedules.Train and validate Patient Representative and Call Center Representative schedulers in compliance with the scheduling guidelines. Submit annual budget proposals and monitor monthly revenue and expense figures. Oversee dental processes, education, training, and customer service for all dental location in collaboration with health center managers to create efficiencies and consistency throughout the entire organization. Create, open and close Dental Provider schedules. Schedule and realign staff to ensure effective coverage for efficient patient access and workflow.Ensure that all equipment is operational and undergoes regular maintenance.Ensure that all office and dental supplies are ordered and well organized. Assist the Quality department with audits and other regulatory activitiesAssist with scheduling feature, creating templates with a sign off before finalizing everything. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 3-5 years proven Dental Services management experience, preferably with multiple sites.Knowledgeable about medical/dental billing practices, insurance coverage and processes.Knowledgeable about dental assisting proficiency, including nitrous oxide use.Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple and shifting priorities.Proficiency in dental OSHA regulations, sterilization procedures, radiation safety and JCAHO guidelines.Proficiency with Dentrix and GE CPS software packages. Excellent written and verbal English communication and interpersonal skills. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare administration or equivalent years of experience and leadership skills.Current CPR certification.Previous experience working in a non-profit or FQHC dental services environment preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS: May be asked to lift to or about 25 pounds.Work under stressful conditions within a controlled enclosed environment daily. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. Required to wear scrubs and occasionally protective barrier clothing during training. This can become uncomfortable in a warm, high humidity room. ADA Category. This position may require prolonged periods of sedentary, stand and/or walk for more than eight (8) hours per day. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination normally associated with the practice of modern oral hygiene will be performed on a repetitive basis.
