The platform is complex, spanning across many dimensions including multiple device platforms, third party integrations and various enterprise infrastructure components such as Directory services, Certificate Authorities, etc. We operate in highly regulated industries that require us to provide deployment flexibility - our product can be installed in shared/isolated SaaS instances, on-premise or partner hosted. We enable critical line of business use cases for our customers - quality, performance and scale of our platform is key to keep their operations running.The Workspace ONE UEM platform is in the middle of a transformation. The system is being re-architected to adapt to the next phase of growth and new opportunities, while continuing to support our existing $1B+ business. We are looking for a leader to build a performance engineering team that will be responsible for ensuring that we're able to build and ship a product that meets our customers highest expectations of performance and scale.We are looking for a business leader who can help us along this journey. Experience leading strong engineering teams, partnering with product management to define roadmap and a strong track of execution are required. Excellent technical skills and ability coupled with the empathy and intuition required to be a great people leader is a must.Primary responsibilities of this role include:Build an extremely skilled and geographically distributed performance engineering teamArchitect frameworks to enable performance and scale testing at different stages of the pipeline including micro-benchmarking and end to end scale testsLead efforts around performance bottleneck analysis, improvements in scale and performance of the product, automated performance regression testing and capacity sizing.Work across geographically distributed engineering teams, establishing processes and practices that ensure code is built with performance and scale in mind from the outsetArchitect and build tools and frameworks to automate the ability for teams to set up environments, run performance tests and analyze results efficientlyBuild and establish a framework that establishes "performance infrastructure as a service"A' for the engineering orgLead with empathy and a very high level of attention on building an equitable and inclusive work cultureRequired QualificationsSeasoned engineering leader with a track record leading successful performance engineering effortsHands on experience building enterprise level performance test automation frameworks and test suitesStrong understanding of CI/CD and how performance and scale validation can be built into these pipelinesExpertise in various tools and frameworks used for performance and scale testingSuccessfully managed managers demonstrating the ability to scale the team horizontally and verticallyExcellent communication skillsCategory : Engineering and TechnologySubcategory: Product Dev ManagementExperience: Business LeadershipFull Time/ Part Time: Full TimePosted Date: 2021-10-14VMware Company Overview: At VMware, we believe that software has the power to unlock new opportunities for people and our planet.
