Description: Job Title: Lead, Systems Engineer (Mission ConOps) Job Code: SAS20212105-61647 Job Location: Rochester, NY or Herndon, VA Job Description: The Mission Architect and ConOps Engineer develops Concept of Operations (ConOps) for a space-based system, defining system use and operations. Uses the application of engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve complex problems associated with spaceflight hardware. Throughout the life cycle, will lead coordination across internal and external stakeholders to drive your assigned programs' development from early capabilities studies through launch and system execution. Serve as a core point of contact with the customer, working with subject matter experts across the business to quickly iterate and converge on achievable solutions that ensure mission requirements are met. Essential Functions: Perform in an accelerated, dynamic small team environment, closely integrated with customers and contractors Develop the system ConOps of a space-based system to define all phases of system use and operations while continually analyzing results and making adjustments to maximize system capability Support the program Mission Analysis effort to obtain optimal system wide performance Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to efficiently satisfy customer requirements Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints Holds Technical Subject Matter Expertise in Electrical, Mechanical, Optical or equivalent engineering Discipline Qualifications: BS degree in Engineering, Physics, or other related scientific discipline and 9 plus years relevant systems engineering work and/or space systems experience Candidate must hold an active Top Secret security clearance Preferred Additional Skills: In addition to the relevant systems engineering work, 5 years relevant experience with optical systems and/or sensor systems technology, design, manufacture, integration, test and operations is also highly preferred Satellite system modeling using AGI STK Toolchain General Ground understanding Ability to architect an end to end space system with a full understanding of the product lifecycle Experience with Interconnect Diagrams and allocation and budgets Experience with MBSE Domain Experience and/or Understanding: Command and Control, Mission Management, Planning and Scheduling, Orbital Mechanics Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, ability to interact with a cross functional team, act as customer interface Ability to collaborate across all levels of leadership Mission understanding Working knowledge of systems engineering standards and processes Strong technical writing skills Excellent organizational skills
