We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to support our unique customer in Greenbelt, MD. This position requires an active Secret security clearance and is contingent upon contract award. The purpose of this contract is to acquire engineering services for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for ground systems and mission operations support (GSMO-3) in all phases of a mission life cycle. The scope encompasses concept studies, design, development, integration, test, verification, operations, and sustainment of mission operations systems and subsystems, and operations processes and procedures. Applies specialized knowledge of primary technical discipline, eg, aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer science to support research, planning, development, design, analysis, production, maintenance, and operation of devices, equipment, complex systems, or processes; Design activities generally involve customer specifications, constraints, operating environments, and autonomous, unattended operation; State-of-the-art product development activities may require modification and extension of existing methods and may require advanced techniques and/or tools. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in the discipline area of Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Software Engineering, or Management of Information Technology; At least 7 years of related experience; Requires broad knowledge of several fields and extensive knowledge of own specialty - Analysis, design, programming, and modification of computer programs for software products and customer applications. Develops overall system architecture, program specifications, and system test procedure. Converts project specifications and procedures to detailed logical flow charts for coding into computer language. Write code and complete programming, testing and debugging of applications. Determines forms, procedures and other documentation needed for the installation and maintenance of application programs. Key skills and abilities: Skilled in high-level programming languages, eg, C/C++, Java, Visual Basic, FORTRAN. Familiar with using Computer-Assisted Software Engineering (CASE) tools and Rapid Application Development (RAD) and Joint Application Development (JAD) methods. Must demonstrate solid judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation and/or modification of methodologies and tools Eligible for a Secret Clearance Desired Qualifications Certifications: Oracle and CISCO certifications or similar related certification required. Examples of Oracle certifications include Oracle SOA Suite 12c Certified Implementation Specialist, Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Linux 6 System Administrator, Oracle Exadata X5 Administrator, Oracle VM 3.0 for x86 Certified Implementation Specialist. Example CISCO certifications include: CCENT, CCNA, CCNP CCIE. Comprehensive understanding of satellites and ground systems concepts through experience or education Technical Documentation Skills Oral and written presentation skills Education: A Master's degree may substitute for 3 years of experience Active Secret Clearance Peraton drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.
